Great talk, with all the information and details needed to get started writing unit tests. Having written tests for a while now, I wanted to see how other people were doing it and was not disappointed at all. And, @Harrie, congratulations on your live coding - it did not blow up in your face. :)
It was good to see something completely different from the normal uses PHP is put to. A few more (successful) usage examples of common things like face detection/recognition would help make this even better next time.
Great talk!
Helgi warned us that it wasn't for beginners. I'm an Nginx n00b but wouldn't want to sit through a 'getting started' talk anyway if I can skim through the manual.
Instead, this was an in-depth but still easy to follow guide to some of the cool things you can do with Nginx (things that differentiate it from Apache).
The attendees were largely left to decide for themselves if/when they should actually do crazy stuff like connecting Nginx to MySQL, but there was some discussion about use cases in the Q&A.
Thanks!
Great introduction to the world of CI for PHP developers. Covers all the tools you need to get your builds automated. A nice addition would have been to touch on the subject of code coverage from your tests!
Very good, inspirational talk.
Came half-way in, so didn't get all of it. My tips: On screen samples. It was pretty much impossible to see what was typed on the billboard/paperboard. Teased me enough to make me want to check out Haskell and Prolog anways.
Was sad when the talk was cancelled on friday, so quite happy to get to see it on saturday. June is a great speaker, and the talk itself was interesting, even if I already follow some of the practices and tips described. Kudos for interesting discussion after.
PS: Lorenzo Alberton from Monitoring in Scale had some of the same brain-tricks (SOAP, SOUP, SLAP, SNAP) slides, which was quite amusing.
Calling the talk "Modern Javascript frameworks to make your life easier" or something would have made a lot more sense. The talk only covered different frameworks to build an application, and I had expected a lot more than a demo of frameworks from a talk called "Advanced JavaScript Techniques for Modern Web Applications".
Speaker was great, but the balance between sarcasm / jokes and serious notes was off.
If that is tuned the talk will probably be great. In it's current form this talk is not fit for keynote.
