Talk comments

Fantastic, I learnt a lot and was practical rather than theoretical.

Mirroring the above comments, as a 'lowly' developer there wasn't much I gained from the talk. Given the make-up of the crowd and the message it was putting out, I'm not sure on it's suitability as a Keynote talk.

Good introduction to parallel programming. The code was a little hard to follow, and one part seemed to be missing from the talk: when the fork takes place, where do the parent and child processes run from in the code (the start, or the next line?).

Timing was also an issue, the talk ran over and there appeared to be a full section on the Mandelbrot that was missed.

The topic and content were good, just the presentation needs refining for it's next outing.

Good talk on a topic I hadn't given much consideration before, I got kinda lost at around the bloomFilter mark though this is due to my own exposure level. Got enough quality information to start making some positive changes to my code, but will definitely need to do some further reading on the topic...

Good talking covering lots of pitfalls and problem areas. One key point for me was the use of "new()". Never thought of the possible effects it could have for code reuse. Time to go back through some old source and do some inspection.

As a CakePHP dev I was more interested in seeing how Li3 had developed from the Cake codebase. While the content was presented well, I feel it tried to cover too many bases. Half the talk would have been better as an Introduction to Frameworks talk.

What technical data / code there was, was useful to me.

My first introduction to firehoses so I was lost within the first 30 seconds, but the slides kept things clear and I was able to follow the key principles and problems. Certainly something to look in to at a later date.

Inspiring keynote, a bit too business focussed for the audience. However, these could be points developers in the audience could use to persuade their bosses to get involved.

It could indeed be a little bit shorter, because there was too much repetition in it, but I liked the pauses between the points you made.

Thanks Mike for using ProTalk (http://protalk.me) as a live example! I really enjoyed your talk and you inspired me to do better at documenting my code. Would have been great if you setup the IDE up front and therefore you would have had more time to show more advanced / unknown docblock tags. However, I still picked up on a few things and it was great to see the improvements in the phpdocumentor interface once the documentation is generated.

Great talk Harrie. Try to loose the "uh" but the structure of your talk was very good. Slides were informative and the whole talk inspired me to do better :). I knew most of the stuff but sometimes it's good to be reminded and this talk was great for that. Thanks!
