I was too a bit disappointed. It didn't look like you were prepared as much as you could or maybe you were too nervous? I felt it was your first talk ever at a conference.
I would say you'd do better if you gave an overview of the features of the framework and why you say it's the "best of both worlds". You didn't persuade me to check it out unfortunately. I did feel you know your stuff and the framework very well, but maybe due to that it was a bit too in-depth for me. You should probably loose most of the code that was on the slides.
Also, the colors weren't very readable due to the contrast of the beamer (which is not your fault entirely, but it is something to keep in mind next time).
Awesome talk, you're a good speaker Thijs. I finally got around to seeing you speak, which was great. Thanks for the great content! Too bad I had to stand because the room was packed (and warm!).
A great talk into a part of a developers life that is often overlooked. I was familiar with a couple of the tools, and now have a few more to add to my tool chain. I just hope any devs I work with will appreciate it too.
A talk with an important lesson, a great overview of sysadmin monitoring/logging/debugging tools and a very entertaining speaker. Thumbs up.
A very engaging talk from which I took away a number of notes of ideas I want to look into for future projects / changes.
Was a shame this was on Sunday morning as I think attendance was lower than it would have been if presented on the Saturday.
Good insight into how open source can filter through to all parts of the community, and why none of us have an excuse for not being involved (me included). The paired presenting worked well, and while the simple slides worked well in not distracting from the talk content, it would be nice to have some to refer back to now.
Quality and entertaining talk with lots of nice tips & excellent code examples. Many thanks.
I thought this was a good talk, covering a lot of NoSQL approaches and then giving some more detail on the four generalised categories, using an example db from each. Having recently read Seven Databases in Seven Weeks I was familiar the content but it was good to have an overview from a different person's perspective.
This kind of talk would always be very technical, but it did also come across as quite dry for sections of it. A great insight into the underlying layers of arrays and SPL functions, and I personally would have benefited from some real-world examples of where and when to use these techniques.
However, you are a good speaker, so don't let this experience get you down. There is just a lot to learn and improve :)
