Great workshop, I like Alistair's presentation style for workshops like this. The fact that it was hands on and not a 3 hour presentationf is really a plus. I would have prefered a bit more focus an chef.
Almost everybody mentioned that scrolling the code examples didn't add value. I agree for the same reasons and I just wish someone had given you the tip on the #L24 anchor style before you wrote the slides.
You spoke in a very clear and pleasant voice and what you told us reminded me of the need to get to know more about SPL, good heavens, I had no idea there was so much of it!
All in all it was clear that you have extensive knowledge about SPL, but it would have been an even better talk if you had managed to instill some of that on us. Now what I took from it is that I will have to study it more, but I only gained very superficial knowledge of what can be done with SPL. Still, I'm thankful for that. Please keep giving these talks, I think many, many other developers need to know.
I have no idea what he was talking about!
But...
He had a cool shirt and a moustache.
I think his name was Travis.
;-)
Thank you very much. I even took some notes. A little embarassed to admit I never ever used lint, while I heared of it before. But it's in my notes now and it has stuck in my mind (the head part) and my gut tells me I should really give it a try. It will make me cry for all the == comparison operators. Ouch. Using === in php already whenever I can. Thank you very much, it was realy entertaining. And yeah, I also tend to think of fallthrough in switches as elegant...
We are working on this topic in my company. Most of the things that we was looking for geosearch was here. And he also bring more sites and services that provides geo service, that is essential and very useful to make a good search.
I enjoyed the tutorial and will be coding in Zend Framework 2 with more self-confidence from now on. That was the goal that I had set for this day.
It was a pleasure listening to you while trying to keep up with the typing :)
You were also very helpful even on an individual basis, when things didn't run smoothly. Thank you!
Well done!
The content is hard to be explained in 45 minutes, but she did well. I liked to see the different patterns and related with others systems/languages.
Really enjoyed the talk and the lighthearted manner in which all of the questions were taken. I think the only issue was the brevity of the talk, but given the 45 minute time limit it was handled really well. Will definitely give your book (PHP Master) a look!
Good talk!
