Big thank you to both Rob and Evan for giving up their time to educate us on ZF2. It was no small under taking for Evan to come over from the U.S. I really enjoyed the day and would love to attend more of these. There was a lot of ground covered in a short amount of time, and I have to admit i was losing focus towards the end of the day. I would have prefered a slower pace and maybe breaking the exercises down a little. However I totally understand that we only had 1 day to cover so much. What we really need is someone to write a book on the subject....hmmm.
This was a really inspiring way to end a great conference. As others have said, I think that parts of this were more suited to management, but when the recording are released those of us with more receptive management can pass them on. Personally though, this made me want to get a lot more involved with open source.
Very interesting introduction to forking. It was a pity that it seemed to skip a part, but I'm looking forward to reading back though the slides and having a go myself.
Really good to hear these principles at a conference. A lot of developers should already be familiar with most of the practises Harrie talked about, but hearing others talking about it pushed it back to the front of my mind when I got back to work. Hearing these talks on a regular basis keeps us doing it the right way. I will enjoy going back over the slides and will try to be Bob!
I was really interested by the Lithium part of the talk, but I think that the frameworks introduction was out of place. That combined with the late start (mic issues) caused the end to be skipped over, but it was still enough to get me very interested in some of Lithium's ideas. Filters especially are something I will have to look into in more detail.
A really well presented talk on a potentially complicated subject. Lost me several times and I'm going to have to read back through the slides more than once, but Ian made it seem really interesting and created a drive to learn beyond the session. Also introduced a couple of tools that I think I will have a real use for in the future.
Really interesting and informative talk. It has given me a lot of pointers on how to approach my own code as well as interactions with the team. Sonar is a tool that I can definitely see in my future workflow.
Really interesting talk as a perspective on the issues and decisions that a new language faces. It will be great to see the language develop in the future, and hopefully get to use in next year.
I enjoyed this talk as it re-enforced a lot of the information that I'd picked up on the previous day. Gary obviously knows his stuff, and I would have liked this to have gone on for a full session.
Of the several talk that i attended at phpnw12 this was one of the better ones. Derick is very confident and delivers the content very well. Date and times always throw up problems and i knew it was complicated, but Derick really drove home just how complicated. One of the things i was left wondering was how i should store date in a database. Should i be storing two strings one for the datetime and one for the timezone. I would really like to see this again, was it recorded?
