Very good talk by Ian.
I've never looked into firehoses before so this was my introduction into the topic. A lot of complicated stuff mentioned in the talk however the slides and diagrams were very good so I was kept interested without feeling too lost.
Had to take lots of notes during this talk as most of the stuff that was mentioned I had never heard of before.
Very motivating talk about open source/the community. Definitely inspired me to try harder and get more involved.
Good talk by Patrick,
Mentioned some data structures which I've never heard of so I took plenty of notes so I can research them another time. He did go into use cases for these sorts of data structures and more importantly when not to use arrays (I have been guilty of some of the don'ts in this talk).
It was very difficult to see the code samples so it did get difficult to follow along.
Very interesting talk Derick,
As everybody else has already mentioned it was good to get the real world background on the subject.
I got a lot from this talk and I will be adding your PHP date and time programming book to my employers book list.
As someone who hasn't done much with NoSQL yet, this was a very good talk. I will definitely be reading the slides again at some point to refresh my memory!
One of the best talks of the conference - very interesting, well delivered.
Good talk overall, I found most of the first half a bit too slow/basic - although it was explained well. Perhaps there could have been references provided to online guides about the basics of forking for those not familiar, and a bit more PHP specific stuff covered during the talk.
The speaker seemed a bit nervous at times but still delivered the talk very well.
Thanks for this discussion. Recapped my memory on some points and taught me things I didn't know. Also, PHPStorm looks like an awesome IDE, may have to give it a go.
This was something I've heard about but never actually done any research about. It was good to get an overview about the different types of NoSQL, but I still don't feel I learnt enough to fully understand what goes on - perhaps more in-depth on one of the engines would have improved this. Also it was a little disappointing to hear that the speaker had never used it in production - it would have been nice to have a case study or similar.
Still an interesting talk though :)
One of my favourite talks of the weekend.
Lots of humour and good content, finding out how the BBC deals with mobile devices was very interesting
